Iowa Retina Consultants is seeking a fast-paced individual for a full-time front office position. Individual will play a vital role in welcoming patients to the practice and ensuring professional and courteous treatment.
Primary duties include, checking in patients, answering telephones, verifying patient charts, information, signatures & appointments and responding to patient records requests. Ideal candidate will have outstanding telephone, secretarial, communication and computer skills. Must be organized, multi-task oriented, energetic, professional attitude, and a team player. Two years customer service/telephone receptionist experience preferred.
Position will have some travel to satellite clinic 1-2 days per month.

The Front-Office Receptionist is extremely important to the success of the practice. This person is often the first encounter that a patient has with the office. The Receptionist’s attitude will be assumed by the patient or the referring provider to reflect the attitude of the practice. It is therefore essential that the Receptionist be skilled in interpersonal relations and be capable of efficient, friendly service at all times.
What You Will Be Doing
- Check-in and Check-out Procedures for All Patients: Greet patients, verify their information, collect necessary paperwork, co-pays, and ensure smooth transitions during their arrival and departure.
- Responsibly handle incoming calls, address inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide assistance or direction to callers as needed.
- Monitor and follow up with patients who miss appointments, as well as manage recall lists to ensure patients receive timely reminders for follow-up visits or screenings. Providing no show-rate to management upon request.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documenting appointments, medical history, treatment plans, and relevant communications for future reference and continuity of care.
- Ensure the waiting room is clean, organized, and welcoming for patients, including arranging seating, magazines, and other amenities to create a comfortable environment.
- Ability to utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) software efficiently and adhere to HIPAA protocols strictly.
- Act as a float and fill in when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
