If so, Iowa Sound, a leading provider in the live event industry, is searching for a Full-Time Audio Technician to join our team in Ankeny, IA.
For nearly 30 years, Iowa Sound has been at the forefront of delivering top-tier audio, video and lighting solutions for events across the Midwest. The Audio Technician will be an integral part of daily operations, ensuring high quality standards for our clients. Audio Technician will be responsible for mixing sound for concerts, festivals, private and AV style events. This position will require minor travel.
This position is a full-time salary position.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepping equipment, loading and unloading trucks for events of all types
- Assist all areas of operation such as warehouse operations, deliveries, equipment pick up/return, testing equipment, preventative maintenance, minor repairs etc.
- Work closely with clients, committees, bands, and other event technicians to ensure the successful completion of events
- Assist with installation of audio, video, and lighting equipment, as needed
- Provide excellent customer service and promptly handle any client changes/requests
- Ensure equipment has been safely and professionally deployed
- On site set up and test all parts of the system to ensure proper functioning
- Operate, monitor, and adjust equipment to regulate sound quality during performances
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the live events industry as an A1/A2 technician
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Must be available to work most weekends May through September
- Position requires good hearing, good listening skills, and the ability to make decisions quickly and reliably
- Self-starter with excellent time management skills
- Working knowledge of all types of audio equipment including operation, set-up, and troubleshooting
- Basic knowledge of video, lighting, and rigging practices
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as independently
- Interacting and communicating effectively and professionally with co-workers and clients is imperative
- Maintain a positive and professional appearance and attitude
- Must maintain a driving record that meets driver insurability requirements, be able to pass a DOT medical certification and obtain any special licensing needed to drive a box truck, van, or other company vehicles
- Ability to competently drive a truck and trailer highly preferred
- Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Maintain high level of attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize work responsibilities

Physical Requirements
- Able to meet the physical demands which include frequent bending, pushing/pulling gear, and lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Most event tasks are performed in an outdoor setting. Individual must be comfortable with working in the elements (cold, heat, wind, rain).
- Able to work long hours during peak season.
