Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming (50%)
- Make programming a priority. Offer comprehensive and complex programming to support long-term change.
- Plan, organize, and deliver educational programs that support county priorities.
- Utilize diversified delivery modes for programs to enable participation by a diverse and larger population.
- Encourage, facilitate, and recognize participation in learning experiences.
- Consistently ask what programming participants and future participants would like to see.
- Administer evaluations and share impact reports with County Extension Council, stakeholders and clients.
- Nurturing new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
- Take initiative in fair activities. Be an open participant and actively support your team members before, during, and after the fair on behalf of the County Extension office.
- Provides programming in human sciences, ag and natural resources, community economic development, and youth development.
- Ensure all four areas are equally represented.
- Build a database for clients/participants that is added to on a monthly basis. Share this database with county extension partners for the betterment of the county.
- Collaborate with extension specialists in the four primary areas to provide an increased impact to participants, assist and provide support when possible.
- Discuss on a monthly basis how the goal/mission of the county extension office has changed or evolved and make necessary corrections to programming to ensure the greatest impact.
- Policy Implementation
- Implement programs in accordance to statewide policies (including risk-management) and Federal guidelines and policies (e.g. Use of 4-H name and emblem, policy, etc.). Share with volunteers and community partners.
- Interpret and enforce guidelines for events.
- Evaluate and report outcomes and impacts to councils, stakeholders, and ISU Extension and Outreach, including filing records in MyData.
- Professional Development
- Participate in county, regional and state professional development and other educational opportunities as required and needed.
- Program Visibility (Networking/Marketing) 15%
- Coordinate media coverage of programs by preparing news releases and other needed marketing pieces. Ensure wide distribution to all media sources, including social media platforms and partnership email lists.
- Develop and implement a marketing/media plan to increase community awareness about Extension, Extension County Office, our organization and all programs/projects that we have a part in using diverse strategies and industry-acceptable timelines.
- Communicate regularly via phone, email, newsletter, social media, and various other media platforms to inform participants, families, and volunteers of events and opportunities. Follow up and track responses and impact of communication in relation to event.
- After events, awards, and recognitions, prepare a follow-up post and/or press release to be submitted to media and public platforms praising/recognizing participants and programs. (impact is a great thing to shout about).
- Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities. Post this calendar in a public location with registration and contact information readily available.
- Monitor income and expenses in program accounts in alignment with an established budget.
- Maintain a current inventory of program materials and supplies.
- Order or purchase supplies as needed after seeking approval for all expenditures.
- Mobilize available resources to implement annual program plans.
- Secure public and private support through grant applications
- Write grants and establish partnerships that pool public and private funds.
- Communicate with Extension Council to assure adequate financial resources are secured to carry out program plans
- Communicate with and recognize program donors
- Build relationships and communicate effectively with community partners, staff, teammates and stakeholders
- Develop partnerships with relevant public and private organizations in joint program efforts that grow the county programs
- Work cooperatively with committees as needed
- Attend/participate in team meetings and team-building activities.
- Work collaboratively with Floyd County staff to provide office coverage and essential office functions for excellent customer service.
Computer and Office Skills
- Maintain computer and/or hard copy files of project resources, events, history, and statistical reports
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, the internet, and the operation of office equipment and procedures
- Support office operations by covering the office, answering phone, and assisting with programs as needed
- Acquire appropriate training and learn new skills as needed
- Write receipts in appropriate receipt book for money received
- Make change for clients

Minimum Qualifications:
- AA (BA or BS preferred) or equivalent experience working in communities
- Excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, ability to work with a team, and conflict management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, Social Media, and e-mail applications
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Employment contingent on successful background screening
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
