Job Description:

The Iowa State Athletics Department is accepting applications for the position of Event Manager (event planner I). The Event Manager will independently plan, coordinate, and implement primarily small to midsize events that may include conferences, meetings, weddings, donor events, reunions, proms, concerts, shows, and non-ISU athletic events. This position serves as the primary event manager for designated events and assists with a variety of operational and administrative projects.

• Coordinates all aspects of the assigned event from planning with the client through the end of the event, coordinates logistics, analyzes challenges and identifies alternative solutions
• Consults with clients on event planning
• Coordinates contracts
• Serves as manager on duty at the event, and is responsible for making regular independent decisions on behalf of ISU and the client
• Supervises event staff and third party vendors during live events
• Acts as venue liaison to all parties involved in the event to ensure effective communications and smooth ancillary operations (parking, security, catering, merchandising, ticketing, guest services, sponsorship coordination, media, officials, visiting teams, etc.)
• Facilitates safety, security and emergency response procedures as necessary
• Assists with administrative and operational processes to support the event programs
• Requires a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA.

Candidates should have good skills planning and managing events; proven ability to work with regular interruptions; ability to manage multiple projects and vendors/staff simultaneously; be a problem solver; possess good interpersonal and communication skills; be highly organized; and effective working with internal and external stakeholders. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse clientele.

Must be available and flexible to work assigned evening and/or weekend events; able to lift and move up to 40 lbs; and able to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
