Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating food and health programs. Experience that demonstrates the ability to organize, coordinate, and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, including previously underserved or under-represented populations. Experience working in and with diverse communities, especially with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of color.) Job Description: Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for a Human Sciences Specialist position to be filled at the Human Sciences Extension Specialist I or II level. These positions will serve a 12-county region (Lyon, Sioux, Osceola, O’Brien, Plymouth, Woodbury, Monona, Sac, Ida, Calhoun, Cherokee, Buena Vista). The primary office location for this position will be a county extension office and the location will be dependent on the successful candidate and office availability. Since the position covers multiple counties, it will require travel to county extension offices. Candidates must have access to reliable transportation. Occasional evening/weekend hours are required for this position. The positions will focus on Food and Health within Human Sciences. The position will promote Extension engagement and education with youth, families, businesses and communities. Responsibilities include providing educational opportunities through programming leadership, delivery, consultation, technical assistance, and support for integrated content in the areas of human sciences with primary focus on aspects of food and health within a multi-county region. Additional duties include active participation in needs assessment processes and program development planning with food and health program specialists statewide and in consultation with ISU Faculty. Additional duties may include the development of program materials and the provision of staff and volunteer training, as well as the development of educational models that may be used by the Extension and Outreach system to effectively build relationships with youth, families, businesses and communities. In addition to Human Sciences Extension Specialist I duties listed above, an Human Sciences Extension Specialist II will create and deliver priority and responsive programming, conduct and analyze needs assessment activities and identify ways to meet clients’ needs, initiate interdisciplinary programming, and assist leadership with subject-matter expertise at the local, area, and state level. The successful candidate will be able to develop partnerships and collaborations with appropriate agencies, associations and organizations to implement program activities. Strong organizational, facilitation and communications skills, along with an ability to pay close attention to detail will be essential for success in the position. The candidate will also possess the ability to prioritize multiple ongoing tasks concurrently to ensure immediate deadlines are met, as well as exceptional analytical and public relations skills to effectively represent and deliver ISU Human Sciences Extension and Outreach educational opportunities and programs. This position will be hired as a Human Sciences Extension Specialist I or II depending on the candidate's experience. For the Human Sciences Extension Specialist I, the required minimum qualification is a Bachelor's degree. The pay grade is a PS806. For the Human Sciences Extension Specialist II, the required minimum qualification is a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience . The pay grade is a PS807.
