We are currently looking for a high caliber patent agent with a strong technical background. Our client, a very stable but growing law firm, is known for the exceptional technical expertise of its patent team and their high-quality work relating to complex patents.
As a member of this team, your technical background will be fully leveraged, with portfolio and client assignments being determined by your specific capabilities.
This firm has clients within a variety of industries and has a steady flow of work relating to a range of technologies (e.g., medical device, optical systems, digital imaging, photonics, materials engineering, aeronautical engineering, nanotechnology, consumer and industrial electronics, test and measurement equipment, semiconductors, wireless communications, software engineering, cloud computing, etc.).
The work relates primarily to patent preparation and prosecution, patent opinions (patentability, freedom to operate, validity, infringement, enforceability), and due diligence relating to US patents. This will include primarily US-based clients, but will also include some work for foreign clients needing prosecution in the US.
Since this firm also deals with foreign filings, any international experience would be a plus. Since this is a very collegial environment and you will deal directly with a variety of clients at all levels, you will need to have solid social and communication skills.
Patent Agent Requirements :
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Physics or Engineering (e.g., electrical, biomedical, mechanical, materials, aeronautical) or Physics, with a graduate degree preferred.
- USPTO Bar with a solid academic background.
- At least 3 years of full-time patent drafting and prosecution experience.
