Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Hardware Engineering Manager, the Mechatronics Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing hardware automation solutions, robotic systems, and intelligent sensor technologies. This role requires expertise in automation, robotics, embedded systems, and control systems, with a strong emphasis on hardware integration and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design & Development:
- Design and develop mechanical-electrical-software integrated systems for automation and robotics applications.
- Create and optimize hardware solutions, integrating sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
- Develop control algorithms for motion control, robotics, and industrial automation.
Hardware & Embedded Systems Integration:
- Work with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and embedded computing platforms to develop real-time control systems.
- Design and implement PCB layouts, power electronics, and circuit designs for mechatronic applications.
- Integrate machine vision systems, LiDAR, and sensor fusion technologies into automation solutions.
Prototyping, Testing & Troubleshooting:
- Develop and test functional prototypes of automation and robotic systems.
- Conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software integration issues.
Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Maintain detailed documentation for hardware design, software interfaces, and test procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Innovation:
- Stay updated on emerging hardware technologies, AI-driven automation, and sensor integration.
- Contribute to R&D efforts to develop next-generation industrial and commercial automation solutions.
- Assist in training technicians and junior engineers in mechatronics system development.
Other Duties:
- Perform other engineering duties as assigned to support the Engineering and Product Development functions.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in hardware automation, robotics integration, and system optimization.
Skills & Abilities:
- Experience building scalable mechatronic architectures that can adapt to different applications.
- Experience integrating cloud-connected, IoT-enabled, or AI-enhanced automation systems.
- Experience designing systems that meet regulatory requirements for industrial or consumer electronics.
- Ability to transition designs from prototyping to full-scale production while considering DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles.
- Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and additive manufacturing to create and test functional prototypes.
- Hardware and embedded systems development (MCUs, FPGAs, PLCs, real-time controllers).
- Robotic and automation hardware, including motion control, actuators, and industrial sensors.
- Embedded programming (C, C , Python, MATLAB, ROS, LabVIEW).
- Communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, RS-232, RS-485).
- Circuit design and PCB layout for hardware integration.
- Machine vision and perception systems (LiDAR, cameras, sensor fusion).
- CAD modeling and mechanical design (SolidEdge, AutoCAD).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to debug and optimize hardware-software integrated systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hardware-focused R&D environment.
- Experience in AI-driven automation and real-time perception systems.
- Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) for robotic applications.
- Ability to explore and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI, IoT, edge computing) into mechatronic systems.
