Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Management
- Develop and execute the engineering vision, strategy, and goals in alignment with company objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and technical professionals that are dispersed across several offices and geographies.
- Drive innovation in refrigeration system design, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Oversee the development and implementation of best practices for design, testing, and quality control.
- Create standardization across several teams and technical platforms.
Engineering & Technical Oversight
- Provide technical expertise in ammonia, CO, and other industrial refrigeration systems.
- Lead R&D efforts to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all engineering designs meet safety, environmental, and industry standards such as ASHRAE, IIAR, and OSHA.
- Optimize system layouts, controls, and components to enhance performance and reduce costs.
Project & Process Management
- Manage engineering projects from concept to execution, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Oversee workload distribution across teams to balance expertise, capacity and ensure project deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with manufacturing fabrication, sales, and service teams to ensure seamless integration of refrigeration solutions for customer success.
- Establish and refine engineering workflows, documentation, and quality assurance processes.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to all applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and sustainability within the engineering department.
- Oversee risk assessments and ensure compliance with PSM (Process Safety Management) regulations for ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Develop process and procedure documents for field teams.
Business Development & Client Relations
- Support sales and business development teams by providing technical expertise and innovative solutions.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored refrigeration solutions.
- Stay informed on market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments in industrial refrigeration.
- Provide value engineering to support customer savings and competitive advantages.
- Estimating and pricing support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in industrial refrigeration engineering, including leadership roles.
- Expertise in ammonia (NH), CO, and other refrigerants used in industrial applications.
- Strong understanding of ASHRAE, IIAR, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
- Capable of managing and mentoring remote team members.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of CAD software, refrigeration system modeling, and PLC controls is a plus.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD and BIM Systems a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE (Professional Engineer) license.
- Experience in food processing, cold storage, or pharmaceutical refrigeration applications.
- Background in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
