What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Planner position at Ira Green, Inc?
The Buyer Planner is responsible for both purchasing materials and planning production or inventory levels to ensure smooth operations. This hybrid role combines elements of procurement (buying) and production/inventory planning to balance supply and demand efficiently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generates work orders and manages production schedules to meet customer delivery requests while best utilizing the company’s production capacity.
- Analyzes current and backlog job orders and accordingly develop production plan and schedules.
- Reviews production plans to identify risks and communicates the same to management.
- Monitors stock levels, reducing excess inventory, and preventing shortages.
- Plans and monitors material movement in production cycle to ensure continuous operations.
- Develops process improvements for inventory, manufacturing and production control systems to meet business objectives.
- Investigates production control problems, analyze root causes, and derive solutions.
- Determines equipment and material requirements for each job order.
- Monitors the execution of job orders and adjust production schedule for timely delivery.
- Analyzes, plans, and manages production control activities to improve runtime.
- Works with materials, manufacturing and purchasing departments in identifying and resolving production planning problems.
- Cost Control – Works to optimize costs, reduce waste, and improve supply chain efficiency
- Sources materials, negotiating with suppliers, and managing purchase orders.
- Manages vendor relationships, tracking deliveries, and resolving supply chain issues.
- Analyze and optimize inventory data inputs by evaluating historical trends, demand patterns, and business requirements to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring efficient resource allocation while adapting thresholds and planning parameters based on changing business needs and market conditions
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer skills required: Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite (Proficient in Microsoft Excel)
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) in related field, or three to five years related procurement, production control, and/or materials planning experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Other skills required:
- Strong inventory control skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
