Description
The Financial Counselor is responsible for providing financial counseling to indigent patients and/or individuals who are economically challenged. Statistically analyzes the needs of each case and present the most logical assistances programs available. This includes formal payment, Medicaid eligibility screenings, and the hospital’s Additional Discount Program (Charity). The Financial Counselor is also tasked with assisting with patient registrations, managing specific registration and verification worklist, perform registration audits, solicit copays, and efficiently follows up with patients, family members, co-workers, management, physicians, other department staff, and other third parties to ensure that maximum financial reimbursement is received.
Shift: M-F 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Must be a High School graduate or equivalent.
- Two years of on-the-job experience in a like or similar position is desired.
- Must have a working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, welfare agencies, insurances, etc.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Good communication skills.
- Computer experience is required
Physical Demands:
Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
