What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development and Marketing Coordinator position at Irene Wortham Center Inc?
Position Summary
Provides assistance and coordination for fundraising and marketing efforts. Responsible for daily activities in support of the development program. Works directly under the supervision of the Development Director to assist in all facets of development and marketing including: fundraising campaigns, external communications methods, marketing strategies and public relations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events.
- Develop and manage a strong volunteer program.
- Handle all administrative details associated with the Development Committees (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, etc.).
- Prepare traditional media and electronic marketing materials for distribution.
- Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
- Assist Development Director in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual, corporate and foundation contributions.
- Cultivate and directly solicit in-kind donors.
- Assist in identification, preparation, and reporting of grants for the organization.
- Attend community networking events and advocate for Irene Wortham Center.
- Assist in planning and execution of capital campaign.
- Cultivate, write and edit content for website and email marketing efforts, including monthly newsletter.
- Manage social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube,
- Other duties and projects as assigned by the Development Director.
Education/Training
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older and possess a valid North Carolina Drivers License
Special Skills/Abilities
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Graphic design skills preferred.
Knowledge of square space, constant contact, social media platforms (FB, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and SEO skills.
Contacts Inside/Outside Organization
All IWC/IWRC staff, Board members, parents, other agency personnel, guests, vendors, etc.
Other Qualifications or Requirements
Mental Effort: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines, strong attention to detail and proofreading skills, Represent the organization in a professional manner at all times, Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with individuals across all organizational levels.
Visual Effort: Well-lighted office environment requiring average amount of visual effort.
Physical Requirements: Office environment not usually requiring ongoing strenuous physical qualifications. May require occasional lifting of 25 pounds.
Safety: Typically a low risk of injury due to typical office environment. IWCs philosophy is to provide the safest work environment possible while meeting requirements from OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment which is not exposed to extremes in temperature, humidity, dust or pollutants.
