What We’re Looking For:
If you have experience as a Network Control Specialist with 5 years of experience in a telecommunications technical and/or network support environment, then you will be excited about the Network Control Specialist Lead opening with Iridium on our Gateway Operations team. As a Network Control Specialist Lead, you’ll independently deliver high-quality work and drive projects and deliverables to completion, including execution of system preventative maintenance. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring the Iridium Gateways and remote site equipment to ensure timely outage notification and resolution of issues in a 24x7x365 environment while fully complying with and executing the Gateway (GW) operational policies and procedures. You’ll be successful in this role if you have intricate knowledge of the Iridium Gateway and the curiosity of an engineer!

This position primarily works in the company office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.

What You’ll Do:
- Serve as a subject matter expert resource within the team and on your shift
- Be responsible for escalations that occur during the shift and create shift schedules and ensure continuity of physical coverage
- Create and maintain internal processes in collaboration with other leads and manager
- Coordinate the day-to-day work activities of the Network Control Specialists on the shift and conducts pass-down coordination between shifts
- Resolve issues and when necessary, escalate non-standard events to the Network Surveillance Manager and/or Engineering
- Coordinate fault resolution with senior personnel and vendor support items
- Identify and develop creative solutions to network interruptions and/or service degradations
- Deliver Tier 2 technical support for customer care and network elements, as assigned
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by management
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related discipline OR equivalent, relevant experience in lieu of degree
- 5 years of experience in telecommunications technical and/or network support, or similar environment
- Experience as a Network Control Specialist
- Experience working in UNIX/Linux
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, OneNote, Power Point)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
- Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
- B e comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
- Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
- Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
- Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge
- Technical industry certification in any of the following disciplines is a plus: A , Network , Linux
- Experience working in Red Hat, and VMware virtualized environments
- Previous experience as a shift leader, staff trainer, or supervisor is a plus
- Be able to work a shift in a 24x7x365 environment
- Be able to travel up to one or two times per year
- Be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Be a US Citizen
