What We’re Looking For:
Iridium is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Quality Assurance Manager, Government Programs to join our Quality & Process Maturity team. As a Quality Assurance Manager, you’ll be responsible for creating, improving, and implementing Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes, definition of metrics, analysis of data, and monitoring of performance for Government Programs within the Iridium Technology Development Organization. You’ll be successful in this role if you are a self-motivated systemic thinker with extensive problem-solving skills while being skilled at working in partnership with many other internal organizations, suppliers, and customers.
What You’ll Do:
- Responsible for ensuring government programs maintain compliance with established processes and customer requirements
- Act as the main Quality contact for the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and customer inquiries associated with Quality
- Document and drive closure of internal and external Corrective Action Requests
- Participate in program reviews, audits, and configuration control boards
- Collaborate cross-functionally to mature Iridium’s Business Management System by developing new and improving existing processes that are utilized on assigned programs
- Analyze processes to identify where gaps between actual performance and desired performance exist and develop a prioritization method for actioning and implementing improvement efforts
- Ensure processes are well documented for training, implementation, auditing, and historical record-keeping purposes
- Verify compliance of development and operational deliverables and regulatory standards
- Ensure well-defined metrics are established for all major processes with reporting formats that transform the data into information that is clear, communicable, and actionable
- Conduct and support quality assurance audits for processes, systems, hardware, software development, and customer deliverables
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Business Administration, or related field
- 8 years of relevant experience in the satellite communications industry or related field
- Strong Quality Assurance background
- Ability to analyze and understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions, create, and evaluate unique solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic
- Have confidence and be able to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team
- Have a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion and be motivated to achieve outcomes and results
- The curiosity to drive problem solving to true root cause identification, implementation of corrective actions and systemic fixes

- ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/OE
- ASQ Certified ISO9001 Lead Auditor
- Lean/Six Sigma certification
We’ll also need you to:
- This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of that U.S. government contract, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens
- Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Be able to travel domestically up to 10%
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
