What We’re Looking For:
If you are passionate about space and deploying disruptive space technology, you’ll be excited about the Senior Manager position of the Architecture and Design group for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a member of the System Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for managing multiple activities and projects, including those with cross-functional teams, to deliver customer-driven System Engineering and Program artifcacts. In this role, you will work alongside a team of Engineers to design, build, and deliver a state-of-the-art Ground System that wows our customers. As a lead, you’ll be responsible for managing multiple activities to support system architecture and design, software development, integration and test, and operations areas of responsibilities. To thrive, you’ll need a breadth of knowledge in ground antenna monitoring and control, fleet management, and software development.
This position requires an active/current Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.

What You’ll Do:
- Foster and develop a highly effective team of Systems Engineers to facilitate program activities and projects
- Mentor and train your team by evaluating employees’ performance, recognizing areas for improvement, and providing reliable solutions to problems that may impact your team’s effectiveness
- Ensure system engineering best practices and processes are applied to ground and payload controller systems developed for various external projects
- Lead and maintain system-level architecture and design documentation, ensuring alignment with project requirements, industry standards, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and network engineers, to ensure seamless design, integration, and interoperability of system components
- Collaborate with system architects and project managers to define system-level requirements, establish technical baselines, and track performance metrics throughout the integration process
- Perform requirements analysis, definition, decomposition, and management for Space and Ground Segments
- Work closely with Program Managers and other key stakeholders to determine resource needs, technical development schedules, and major milestones
- Conduct required system analysis (functional & performance), interface definition, and detailed trade studies, analyzing multiple data sources to respond to frequent, complex, and high impact situations
- Lead the program technical team in support of major reviews such as: Systems Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Operations Readiness Review (ORR)
- Support the coordination and delivery of multiple or complex technical assignments designed with end goals in mind, including managing shifting priorities
- Work independently to ensure that projects meet technical performance targets, deliver quality results, and activities are well-designed and meet overall project objectives
- Play a key role in providing input on strategic project decisions and provide system engineering best practices in program design and delivery, utilizing critical thinking skills to better design new or developing systems
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 10 years related system engineering experience for complex technical projects, preferably direct experience in telecommunications, ground networks, electronic product development/manufacturing or satellites
- Previous management experience required
- Knowledge and experience with designing, developing, and operating satellite ground control systems
- Strong knowledge of system engineering methodologies
- Strong familiarity with tools and software applications that support system engineering best practices
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
- Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your team and role modelling commitment to your team’s goals
- Have a people-oriented mentality and be able to build valuable relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and executive leadership
- Be able to analyze and understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions, come up with and evaluate unique solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
- Be independent and self-motivated and demonstrate a high degree of creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness

- Knowledge and experience with designing, developing, and operating various Command and Control Systems (i.e: OS Comet, InControl, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience with aspects of the Agile software development process and/or Scaled Agile practices.
- Programming languages such as: Java, JavaScript, Python, Shell scripting
- Working knowledge of networking protocols, routers, switches, etc.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Tool Suite
- Be able to travel up to 10%
- Be a US Citizen
