Position Overview
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying that products meet the required standards and specifications in compliance with DoD and aerospace regulations. This role involves conducting detailed inspections, documenting findings, and collaborating with engineering, manufacturing teams, and the quality manager to resolve quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Incoming, In-Process, and Final Inspections: Inspect raw materials, components, subassembly and completed electronic assembly to verify they meet specifications and quality standards, including DoD and aerospace requirements.
- Document Inspection Results: Accurately and meticulously document all findings, nonconformities, and inspection results in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure Compliance with Standards: Conduct inspections following AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD, and other applicable aerospace and defense standards.
- Use Precision Measurement Tools: Operate and maintain various inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), to validate product dimensions and tolerances.
- Identify and Report Nonconformities: Identify defects and nonconformities, complete Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), and communicate quality issues to relevant departments for corrective action.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot quality issues and lead improvements to inspection processes.
- Support Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions: Participate in root cause analysis investigations and lead the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring quality issues.
- Audit Processes and Procedures: Work closely with the quality manager to assist in internal audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and assist with preparation for external audits, including DoD, AS9100, and customer audits if requested.
- Maintain Documentation: Ensure that all inspection documentation, records, and certifications are accurate, organized, and retained according to company and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or relevant certifications (such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)) preferred.
- 5 years of experience in quality inspection, ideally in a DoD, aerospace, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and MIL-STD standards.
- Previous experience with DoD contracts and understanding of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling is a plus.
