What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Infection Prevention - Full Time position at IRMC?
Develops and maintains a systematic organization-wide infection prevention program at IRMC, utilizing evidence-based practices and ensuring compliance with regulations and requirements from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, PA Department of Health, and accrediting healthcare organizations. Responsible for the surveillance and reporting of healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs), as well as monitoring of the healthcare environment. Analyzes, trends and disseminates data to guide and inform infection prevention priorities. Develops objectives and goals targeting HAI prevention, with ongoing needs assessments. Coordinates the organization’s Infection Prevention Committee. Maintains current education, utilizing professional resources, to guide nosocomial infection practices and prevention. Coordinates, updates and maintains the Infection Control and Prevention Plan and risk assessment, developing and updating policies as appropriate. Sustains collaborative relationships with hospital departments and personnel, to provide education and promote evidence-based practices. Serves as a professional resource and consult to Environmental Services for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, Nursing, Medical Staff and Clinical Services for practices in care, Facilities Department for infection prevention with hospital construction projects, and Employee Health for prevention/management of personnel exposure, and other hospital departments as applicable. Works collaboratively across the health system to align best practices in infection prevention and HAI reduction.
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree, in nursing, public health, epidemiology, medical technology or pertinent field with recent acute care and clinical experience related to infection prevention. Master's degree in related discipline is preferred.
Minimum Experience Required: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a hospital setting. Preferred to have 1-3 years of management experience.
Licensure/Certification Required: Current licensure, certification, or registration to practice in Pennsylvania for professional discipline, as applicable. Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or expected to obtain within 2 years of hire.
Skills required (if applicable): Team-focused, leader with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively via verbal and written communication, public speaking and presentation skills. Critical thinking and analysis capabilities. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and software applications, including the electronic medical record.
