Description
Iron City Wood Products is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Pallet Production Manager.
The Pallet Production Manager is will be responsible for approximately 12 hourly employees which make up the production team. This role is directly responsible for supervision of the pallet building operations, including consistently improving plant safety, efficiency, quality and productivity. A typical day includes receiving pallet orders from the office, planning necessary lumber to cut and planning production employees to get the job completed. This person is directly responsible to the plant manager and upper management.
Job Responsibilities:
· Establish and maintain best practices for ensuring a consistently improving culture of safe work practices and superior industrial housekeeping standards.
· Provide exemplary leadership, training, motivation and communication with employees to promote personal development and teambuilding among experienced and entry level employees.
· Lead an unyielding commitment to maintaining the company’s reputation for product excellence.
· Promote continuous improvement through employee development, streamlining production processes, and cost-effective system improvements.
· Improve and maintain up-time performance consistent with company goals and standards.
· Lead a culture of excellence in maintenance and operation of the company’s equipment.
· Achieve department cost goals by reaching production goals while effectively managing staffing, wages, operating expenditures and capital purchases.
· Work with other departments in efforts to identify improvement opportunities and to trouble-shoot and develop practical solutions for problem areas related to machine center, and other production equipment performance.
· Provide internal and external communications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Minimum of 5 years previous sawmill or wood products industry manufacturing management experience.
- Demonstrated success in coaching, training, and developing staff to achieve business goals.
- Expert knowledge of sawmill equipment, effectiveness in process improvements and maintaining successful up-time rates.
- Must have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and other PC-based production and operations application.
- Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluent in English and conversational in Spanish.
