Job Summary:
Oversee and manage general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, month end close process and sales tax filings. Prepare and review monthly balance sheet and income statement to ensure accuracy. Assist with year-end financial audit activities and annual financial controls audit. Assess current practices and procedures, make recommendations for improvements. Develop accounting staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions including weekly check run and wires, AR posting, reconcile daily QBO bank feed, PEX reconciliation and funding.
- Weekly Paycom administration and processing of approved pay changes, vacation requests, review approved hourly and salary payrolls for processing to Paycom, prepare QBO payroll journal entries, initiate bank payroll wires.
- Manage month end close tasks – Bank Recs, journal entries, including but not limited to payroll accrual, prepaid insurance, depreciation, expenses, and medical insurance.
- Prepare monthly accounting reports.
- Prepare and file monthly sales tax filings for multiple states.
- Manage Year-end close process.
- Manage Year-end 401k Audit and Workers Comp. Audit
- Year-end W-2 reconciliation and 1099 Miscellaneous forms.
- Responsible for assigning tasks to direct reports and ensuring accuracy for each job.
- Contribute to the fulfillment of department objectives and goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
- Through knowledge of GAAP
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, QBO and Paycom
- Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of organization.
- Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results in a respectful and collaborative environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $96,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
