5th Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher

Iroquois West Upper Elementary School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and dynamic individual to join our teaching team as a 5th Grade Science/Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a love of learning and a positive classroom environment while engaging students in the exciting worlds of science and social studies. Responsibilities:

• Teach 5th grade Science and Social Studies in alignment with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking and encourage curiosity.
• Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
• Assess students’ progress through both formal and informal methods (tests, quizzes, projects, and participation).
• Provide a positive classroom atmosphere where students feel encouraged, safe, and respected.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, staff, and administration to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to keep them informed of student progress and classroom activities.
• Support students in developing important skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and school events as required.

Qualifications:

• Valid state certification for teaching 5th grade Science/Social Studies or equivalent certification.
• Previous teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Passion for fostering an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
