Student Accounts Specialist (Onsite)
We have an immediate need for a contract Student Accounts Specialist to join our client, a private liberal arts college. The Student Accounts Specialist is responsible for accurate data entry and updating information for student accounts, including billing, cash receipts and monthly transactions.
Location: Claremont, CA (Onsite)
This job expects to pay about $21 - 22 hourly plus benefits.
What You Will Do:
- Answers incoming student account phone calls and assists parents and students accordingly.
- Saves all Journal reports for financial aid, student accounts and student billing
- Posts billing charges that need to be updated to student accounts, wire payments, returned checks/fees to student’s accounts.
- Provide general support to visitors that walk into the office.
- Responsible for working cross-functionally with other teams, building customer relationships, and other special projects, as necessary.
- Post any approved emergency grants to student accounts and processes any returned payments.
- Processes Ad Hoc Refunds and E-Refunds.
- Posts Financial Aid updates to student accounts, student health service charges and fines.
- Processes students billing statements in CX and publish in Transact.
- Runs month end reports and sends to accounting dept.
What Gets You The Job:
- Graduation from high school with extensive courses beyond high school equivalent to one or two years of college or business school; or any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability.
- Four to five years of related experience required in positions of increasing responsibility.
- Familiarity with accounting (accounts receivables) and bookkeeping or related experience.
- Must have a high level of attention to detail while posting lockbox payments, manual debit and credit adjustments to student accounts.
- Must have some accounting knowledge to assist in processing reconciliation of some clearing accounts.
- Must be familiar with college billing and refund policies, institutional and FERPA confidentiality regulations; and Federal Title IV cash management regulations.
- Must know how to use Office Suite software including intermediate understanding of Excel (VLOOKUP, formulas, functions, etc.).
- Must be able to have a high level of organization and ability to prioritize a few deliverables at a time.
