Job Description
The Vice President of Operations will oversee all operational aspects for multiple mining sites within a designated region, ensuring safety, efficiency, and profitability in our aggregate mining activities, which include limestone, sand, and gravel mining.
This strategic leader will be responsible for driving operational performance, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all sites The role is based in the Greater Indianapolis, IN area and will report to the President of imi Aggregates.
What You’ll Do:
- Safety Leadership: Actively promote safety by engaging employees at all levels to prioritize health and safety in their daily activities and demonstrating accountability for safety practices.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals to enhance productivity and profitability.
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of multiple mining sites, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Performance Management: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage the operations budget, ensuring cost control and resource optimization.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and innovation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, regulatory agencies, and external partners to drive operational excellence.
- Project Management: Oversee capital projects and operational improvements, ensuring timely and within budget execution.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in operations management within the mining or heavy industry sector. Strong knowledge of mining operations, safety regulations, and environmental compliance. Proven track record of leading large teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
