What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heating Service Technician - Amherst position at Irving Oil?
As a Heating Service Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day servicing of our customers heating equipment. Your goal will be to troubleshoot and perform diagnostic activities regarding service equipment within established policies and procedures.

Your Role:
- Maintain, troubleshoot and install oil and propane parts and equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems that occur by reviewing diagnostics and using the proper tools to complete repairs
- Provide final inspections of systems once repairs are completed to ensure all equipment is operating safely
- Complete appropriate daily paperwork for each service call
- Maintain service truck parts inventory
- Ensure the service truck is in good working order and reliable
- Perform other duties as required to maintain and enhance departmental productivity
- Rotational on call shifts required
Your Skills:
- A solid mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work well with others; good organization and communication skills; attention to detail and strong customer service
- Frequent driving, climbing in and out of vehicle and working in confined spaces. Some heavy lifting
- Ability to install various types of heating equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and progress though the daily workload efficiently
- Strong decision-making skills
Your Experience:
- A valid Propane or natural gas license. Nora Certification is an asset
- Knowledge of wiring and plumbing considered an asset
- Previous heating technician experience preferred
