Job Description What you can expect in a typical day We are currently seeking casual Security Officers to join our team. If you enjoy working in different physical locations, thrive being part of a team, and have a strong security and safety mindset, this could be a great opportunity for you. Our team of Security Officers are the face and voice of Irving Oil in the Saint John area and are the primary contact for all visitors, customers, and employees who access our facilities. Candidates must be available to be scheduled in a 24/7 environment and be willing to work at different Irving Oil locations in the Saint John area. Where this position is considered safety sensitive, our recruiting process involves a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Your roles and responsibilities: Welcoming all visitors, employees and customers to Irving Oil by greeting them, in person or on the telephone and maintaining a visible presence at all times Be a primary point of contact for all levels of the business while providing the highest standards of service to all Handle requests, feedback and queries professionally and in a timely manner Being an active member of the team and foster a safe and secure culture, while engaging employees and visitors to enhance their overall experience Be a first point of contact for incoming calls and in-person inquiries and forward them to all appropriate parties efficiently Deal with difficult or unforeseen issues quickly and professionally by answering questions or transferring to appropriate parties when necessary Dealing with all levels of visitors and ensuring the highest standards of safety and security are met Be responsible for all temporary ID passes to visitors, contractors and employees (if required) and ensuring their return upon exit or completion of a task. Be responsible for notifying employees of a visitor’s arrival through appropriate channels Enforce and govern the Facility Access Policy for all people entering the building. Be able to quickly and efficiently respond to any emergency situations by working with the Security Operations Center. Be responsible for contacting all appropriate emergency services and diligently report any incidents directly to the Security Operations Center. Prevent and discourage all unapproved or unlawful entry to the site(s) and engage other security team members when necessary. Be responsible for dispatching security team members, facilities personnel and internal medical staff during any emergency incident or event. Be responsible for coordinating arrival of emergency responders when necessary Be well versed in all security protocols and procedures, while maintaining calm and composure in all emergency situations Deal with difficult people and de-escalate conflict in a professional manner Professional skills Calm demeanor and ability to work well with others. Good customer service skills with the ability to diffuse conflict and de-escalate situations in a professional manner. Able to deal with difficult or unforeseen issues quickly and professionally by answering questions or transferring to appropriate parties when necessary. Able to remain calm; quickly and efficiently respond to any emergency situations by working with the Security Operations Center (SOC). Be well versed in security protocols and procedures. Actively contribute towards a safe and secure culture, while engaging employees and visitors to so they have a good experience when on-site. Education and experience Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Must have a valid Canadian driver's license. Graduate of a Criminal Justice or Police Foundations program is a definite asset. Previous related work experience is a strong asset. Current First Aid certification is an asset. Experience in customer service is an asset.
