Position Description
The Program Food Cook LTE is integral to our daily kitchen service. This position ensures that all meals are prepared correctly and served on time.
The food made in this kitchen is served to children, youth, and older adults across Madison at low or no cost. People who will be most successful in this position enjoy working collaboratively with others, have a strong sense of urgency, are self-motivated & value serving their community.

Requirements
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience cooking in a high-volume food service environment (preferred)
- Basic knife skills
- Ability to contribute to a positive working environment
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to read, use & scale recipes
- Open to constructive feedback and loves learning
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain within 60-days of employment
- Valid Driver’s License (preferred)
- Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to bend, squat, and physically react in a prompt manner.
- Ability to use hands & fingers in grasping, pinching, chopping, pulling, and lifting motions associated with preparing and cooking products using knives, utensils, and cookware.
- Ability to lift & move up to 50 lb on a regular basis
Responsibilities
- Assemble, cook, portion, package and label recipes following specific guidelines on provided recipe
- Regularly prepare fruits, vegetables, meats, sauces, stocks, grains, etc.
- Work with the rest of the team to produce appx. 600 meals per day
- Maintain high safety & sanitation standards with assistance of Kitchen Stewards
- Work both independently & collaboratively
