This candidate will design and estimate telecommunications cabling projects in the NY / NJ market.
Job Responsibilities :
Design and estimate structured cabling projects.
Communicate structured cabling standards to partners, stakeholders, and lines of business. Participate in project-related interviews and discovery with lines of business and other technology design team members. Translate business requirements into functional technology requirements. Estimate the overall cost of the project.
Must adhere to design standards and global design processes and procedures
Interfaces with general contractors, mechanical / electrical / plumbing engineering, architectural firms, telecommunication sub-contractors, and AV / security integrators throughout the design and build process.
Project Manage telecom cabling contractor activities, providing direction to address site-specific construction issues.
Participate in design coordination and construction meetings with the appropriate internal and external resources.
Knowledge of typical construction milestones, durations, and schedule logic related to technology and real estate-driven build-outs.
Must provide quality assurance throughout the entire, end-to-end, project lifecycle. Participate in on-site walk-thru's and construction turn-over milestones.
The ability to assemble coordinated drawing sets (schematic / design development / bid / construction) and specification documents including floor layouts, outlet numbering, elevations, labeling details, wiring schematics, pull schedules, etc.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills :
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, related field, and / or technical training.
A minimum of five years experience preparing structured cabling designs.
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook.
Conversant with the English language. Proficiency in other languages is desirable.
Willingness to travel within the tri-state area.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills :
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification is required.
- Outside Plant experience preferred.
- Estimation experience required.
- Experience with prevailing wage is preferred.
- Experience designing and estimating fiber projects.
- Varied experience in multi-vendor cabling, connecting hardware, cabinet, rack, and power strip solutions.
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi, audiovisual, and security infrastructure cabling systems preferred.
- Client interfacing skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work with all levels of management.
Travel allowance will be provided.
