The ISE Student Exchange Program is presently looking to expand its Area Representative base in the Greater Portland area, and we’re looking for a candidate who is ready to step out from social media promoting, and be more involved in networking student exchange within their local community. This is a WFH role, roughly 2-3 hours weekly community engagement.
About Our In-coming Exchange Students
- 14-18 years old from one of 40 different countries
- Speak English
- Attend nearest public high school to host family
- Have own spending money and medical insurance

Required Duties:
- Training and Certification: You'll complete our free online trainings and the State Department Certification program.
- Host Family Vetting: This process includes conducting in-person interviews and home visits to assess the suitability of the host family.
- Regular In-Person Check-ins: Conduct in-person contact with both the host family and the student at least six times during the homestay. These interactions foster strong relationships and provide opportunities to address any concerns promptly.
- Support and Guidance: You will be the key go-to person for both the student and the host family during the school year, and you will assist with immersion challenges and answer program questions.
- Documentation and Communication: You’ll maintain regular contact with your ISE manager through detailed supervision reports, as well documenting the exchange student's progress in school, their social interactions, and their overall adjustment to the homestay environment.
Qualifications
- Mature adults holding excellent character standing in his/her community
- Globally minded candidate who enjoys free international group travel!
- Experience working with high school age students, preferably in an educational or international setting
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a remote team environment
- Experience in recruiting, educating, or managing volunteers, an asset
- Social media savvy individuals (a plus)
Compensation:
Per-placement compensation (not weekly or hourly wage) $550.00 - $1,400.00 per year. You set your own paycheck. Make it a side gig or a full time career – you decide!
