This full-time, 12-month, exempt position reports directly to the Athletic Director and offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate and skilled individual to make a lasting impact within a supportive and inspiring community.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep knowledge of football strategy, player development, and leadership, coupled with a strong commitment to mentoring student-athletes. The Head Football Coach will uphold and embody Newman’s core values of honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility, fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the football program, encompassing varsity, junior varsity, and middle school teams.
- Build and sustain a competitive varsity team while being mission aligned and continuing to uphold Newman’s tradition of excellence.
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive team culture which is aligned with the mission of the school and the school’s core values.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a dedicated coaching staff which is aligned with the program's goals and values.
- Promote the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes, instilling leadership, discipline, and integrity.
- Oversee all operational aspects of the football program, including program alignment (grades 6-12), full program administration, team management, player development, scheduling, filming, sideline technology, statistics, equipment management, and inventory.
- Serve as an ambassador for the program by fostering strong relationships within the Newman community, alumni network, and beyond.
- Work closely with the Director of High Performance to ensure that the football student athletes are physically fit and conditioned for the sport of football
- Support student-athletes in their pursuit of collegiate football opportunities, serving as the primary point of contact for NCAA/NAIA recruitment.
- Teach a full academic load (Physical Education, Math, English, Foreign Language, History, or Science) in one of Newman’s four divisions.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proven success as a head coach or assistant coach at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Possess strong communication skills and understand and value the importance of effective communication with multiple constituencies and stakeholders.
- A demonstrated philosophy of coaching that prioritizes character development, academic achievement, and sportsmanship.
- A passion for mentoring student-athletes and preparing them for success beyond football.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally competent community that values and respects diversity.
