What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Student Support Teacher position at ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY?
ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY is seeking a Student Support Teacher to provide individualized intervention for students requiring differentiated instruction to develop their developmental and foundational skills.
This full-time position will cover grades K-6. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with diverse learning styles and needs, particularly neurodiverse students, and will be skilled in implementing targeted instructional strategies to support academic growth and confidence.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group intervention to students needing additional academic support in literacy, numeracy, executive functioning, and other essential skills.
- Design and implement differentiated instruction tailored to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support students with varying learning profiles, including neurodiverse learners.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and specialists to develop and implement individualized student support plans.
- Teach model lessons to whole-class settings as needed to demonstrate strategies or support the generalization of skills.
- Assess student progress through ongoing formative assessments and adjust instruction as needed.
- Maintain documentation of student progress and communicate regularly with families and teachers.
- Provide targeted support for sixth graders, equipping them with tools and skills for a successful transition to middle school.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student growth, confidence, and independence.
- Provide teacher consultation and professional development on best practices for differentiating instruction and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Experience in providing interventions for students needing additional academic support.
- Familiarity with multi-tiered support systems (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and differentiated instructional strategies.
- Experience working with neurodiverse students, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, twice-exceptional (2e), autism, or other learning differences.
- Strong understanding of developmental and foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and families.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Training in Orton-Gillingham or other structured literacy approaches.
- Knowledge of assistive technology tools and resources to support student learning.
- Experience with behavioral interventions and executive functioning strategies.
SALARY REQUIREMENTS:
- $45,000 to $65,000
