What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Specialist position at Island Pump & Tank?
About the Role:
The Environmental Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that construction projects comply with environmental regulations and standards. This position involves daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of retail/commercial fueling stations to include compliance testing, monitoring and reporting. This role will also include the polishing of fuel in the underground/aboveground storage tanks. By conducting site assessments and monitoring environmental conditions, the specialist will contribute to sustainable construction practices.
Responsibilities:
- Pump out petroleum contacted water from tank and dispenser sumps
- Change out filters in dispenser
- Perform tank and line testing, spill bucket testing
- Check for proper placement of leak detectors and sensors
- Clean up site in preparation for compliance inspections
- Perform monthly inspections and preventative maintenance
Qualifications:
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work at medium heights, and be able to crouch, bend, and kneel
Ability to work in all types of weather
Work well with others
Follow all company guidelines.
Mechanical and problem-solving skills
Technical skills preferred but not required
Minimum one year current work experience with good references
High School Diploma or Equivalent
