What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development and Communications Manager position at Island Volunteer Caregivers?
Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is seeking a contractor to serve as the Development and Communications Manager, leading fundraising and communications efforts in support of IVC’s mission. This temporary contract position will work closely with the Executive Director and key committees to achieve fundraising goals. The ideal candidate will oversee donor engagement, event planning, and strategic messaging across multiple platforms to strengthen community support and awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to and work closely with the Executive Director in order to accomplish the goals set forth.
- Support IVC’s donor relationships, fundraising and external communications initiatives
- Work with the ED to support a stewardship plan for all donor levels that involves consistent and strategic engagement through a number of channels and with a variety of touchpoints
- Identify key metrics and manage IVC’s capacity to track and generate reports on donors through CRM and donor database systems
- Support efforts of the development, auction and marketing committees
- Participate in ongoing donor cultivation and prepare Executive Director for meetings with current and prospective donors
- Oversee the development and organization of special events
- Create fundraising materials and optimize messaging for social media presence, newsletter and other marketing/outreach efforts
- Ensure IVC is adequately thanking donors, reporting back to donors, and working to measure and increase contribution levels over time
- Develop and manage the distribution of print and electronic marketing collateral pertaining to development efforts including electronic newsletters, brochures, social media content, annual reports, flyers, advertisements, and the IVC website in order to support IVC services, outreach and fundraising
- Ensure all external communication pieces contain a consistent tone, brand image, and compelling message that reflect the values of IVC

Required Skills:
- 2 years of experience in fundraising, communications, or nonprofit management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with donor management systems such as Salesforce
- Familarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workplace, and social media platforms.
- Collaborative, positive attitude with attention to detail.
