Key Purpose
The Fire & Life System Specialist works in an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) organization that provides a variety of services around the clock, 24/7/365. This role involves maintaining constant awareness of fire and life safety responsibilities. Additionally, the specialist provides O&M services for building systems in other assigned facilities. Duties are performed either individually or as part of a team within the O&M environment.

- NFPA Fire/ Life Safety Specialist certification
- Experience with Notifier and Potter Fire systems
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Fire/ Life Safety experience (Device & Sprinkler)
- Able to respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot systems through graphic user interfaces on equipment and systems, and understand system operations adequately to be able to stabilize system operations while specialized OEM technicians are called to the site
- Must be able to use personal computers, MS Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to read and understand MEP prints and equipment schematics
- Ability to effectively communicate to management and client representatives
- Able to use hand tools, test equipment, and knowledge of maintenance shop practices
- Assist the Chief Engineer to effectively complete assigned tasks in the O&M program for the Data Center as well as any non-Data Center space(s) assigned
- Follow building operation rules for the client’s building(s)
- Use the SOPS/ MOPS/ MMR’s as appropriate for site operations and maintenance
- Use the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track all work
- Commercial Building Engineering experience
- Flexible work schedule to complete preventive maintenance and deficiency repairs
- Available for 24/7 work and emergency corrective maintenance or action activities
- Coordinate fire sprinkler system’s preventive maintenance and repairs
- Coordinate fire device and monitoring system’s preventive maintenance and repairs
- Coordinate fire extinguisher preventive maintenance and repairs
- Coordinate AED device / first aid kits
- Coordinate fire/ life safety contractors
- Coordinate safe program and training for ISS/ Barclays
- Coordinate fire wardens and first aider programs for ISS/ Barclays
- Coordinate State of Delaware and City of Wilmington fire permits
- Coordinate water treatment program
- Coordinate JHA process
- Coordinate lockout/ tagout program
- Compete daily building rounds
- Complete CMMS preventive maintenance reactive work order
- Ensures that PM’s and work orders are assigned and scheduled each month as well as completed and
- closed out
- Use the SOPS/ MOPS/ MMR’s as appropriate for site operations and maintenance
- Coordinates with contractors and vendors as needed for the effective and safe accomplishments of maintenance and project work. This task is to see that the contractors and vendors may safely arrive on site, access the facilities properly, be escorted off site. The preservation of the critical load and the safety.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
