Position Overview
Seeking an experienced HR professional to serve as a strategic Performance Management Advisor supporting our Information Technology leadership team. This role focuses on developing and standardizing performance management practices while providing coaching and guidance to technology leaders to ensure accountability, consistency, and excellence across teams.
Candidates must have specific Minnesota state/local government experience working with a represented workforce, as this knowledge is essential for navigating the unique requirements of our environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Partner with technology managers to establish clear, measurable performance expectations for technical and professional staff
- Develop comprehensive performance management documentation and templates that align with organizational standards
- Coach leaders on effective performance conversations and documentation practices through regular consultation sessions
- Create standardized performance criteria for technical and soft skills across different individual contributor levels
- Guide the evaluation and documentation of employee progress against established metrics
- Design accountability frameworks that reinforce performance standards
- Assist technology leaders in addressing persistent performance gaps
- Maintain consistency in performance standards across technical teams
- Assist in developing and refining technical job descriptions that clearly articulate role expectations and requirements
Weekly Commitment
- Conduct 1:1 coaching sessions with technology leaders
- Review and refine performance documentation
- Develop and maintain performance management templates
- Provide strategic guidance on complex performance situations
- Create and update job descriptions to support proper role expectations
- Available for ad-hoc consultations within agreed hours
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of HR leadership experience in Minnesota government sector
- Demonstrated expertise in performance management systems and documentation
- Extensive experience working within union environment parameters
- Strong track record of coaching leaders on performance management practices
- Deep understanding of public sector compliance requirements
