Position Summary

The Estimator roles (Structures Estimator & Earthwork/Utility Estimator) are essential for preparing accurate and timely bids for heavy civil construction projects. These roles involve detailed project analysis, quantity take-offs, vendor selection, and pricing for roadways, highways, and underground utilities.

Essential Functions

• Quantify project components assigned by the lead estimator.
• Perform take-offs for earthwork and underground (stormwater and wet utility) scopes.
• Prepare self-perform and subcontract cost estimates.
• Review plans and specifications to ensure comprehensive understanding of project scope.
• Collaborate with the estimating team to finalize bids using software such as Hard Dollar.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes.
• Assist with meeting DBE participation goals through vendor and subcontractor coordination.
• Visit project sites to assess site conditions and restrictions.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty services.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 5-10 years of experience as an Estimator in heavy civil projects (earthwork, grading, or underground utilities).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
• Strong field operations experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Experience with estimating software (e.g., Hard Dollar, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Agtek, HCSS) is a plus.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
