The Head of Investment Operations will lead a centralized team responsible for delivering “Operations as a Service” across time zones and business units. This individual will design, implement, and manage processes and systems essential to trade execution, client operations, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management to ensure efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Develop and implement a framework of processes and procedures for the unified, cross-jurisdictional FinOps team, aligned with the group’s digital transformation strategy.
- Partner strategically with the FinTech team to ensure the seamless implementation of unified systems.
- Build and oversee an efficient organizational structure that integrates centralized and local roles.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure highly automated transaction processing, reconciliation, reporting, account maintenance, portfolio valuation, fee processing, and corporate actions across all entities.
- Standardize processes for transaction types (e.g., trading in traditional and alternative asset classes, FX, payments, and deposits), order management, and settlement.
- Maintain strong operational relationships with teams responsible for client servicing and group operations, including Account Management, Middle Office, Trading, Treasury Management, and Finance.
- Streamline and automate fee calculations, reporting, and posting while ensuring management-level visibility.
- Develop and monitor a metrics dashboard for real-time tracking of service-level standards across all entities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax reporting standards, including EMIR, MiFID II, FATCA, CRS, and QI.
Team and Process Management
- Establish effective task management protocols across group and local teams to maximize productivity across time zones.
- Conduct regular performance reviews using well-defined KPIs and provide coaching and professional development for team members.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to build and maintain a high-performing team.
Innovation and Collaboration
- Work closely with the FinTech team to identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements.
- Pilot and implement new operational systems and tools across the group.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues, troubleshooting, and stakeholder queries.
Risk and Compliance Management
- Develop and monitor operational risk frameworks and controls to safeguard the business.
- Ensure adherence to business continuity plans and industry best practices.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of operational risks and compliance metrics.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with extensive experience in financial operations and a proven ability to manage complex, multinational teams.
Qualifications and Skills
- 7–10 years of leadership experience in financial operations, preferably within brokerage or asset management.
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets, including equities, bonds, derivatives, and settlement processes.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-border teams and implementing centralized systems.
- Strong understanding of EU/UK regulatory frameworks and tax compliance standards.
- Excellent project management, analytical, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field (MBA or equivalent preferred).
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
