Description
The Building Supervisor’s primary duty is to oversee the Recreation Center Building. Cleaning and preparing the facility for activities. Customer service is also very important. The Building Supervisor is responsible for performing the essential functions as outlined in this description. The Building Supervisor is a part-time employee. General work hours are 10-30 hours a week. Some meetings and training dates may be scheduled on the weekend or evenings.
Requirements
Qualifications:
· A minimum age of 18 is required for this position
· High school graduate or GED certificate
· Strong interpersonal, oral, written and telephone communication skills
· Team-centric focus with the ability to foster a collaborative and productive work environment
· Valid Class D diver’s license
· Other certifications may be required as deemed necessary
Required Knowledge and Skills:
· Basic knowledge of cleaning and custodial tasks and duties
· Good knowledge of emergency and auxiliary services available in the community when needed in emergency situations
· First Aid, CPR and AED certification is required by the first day of work

Hours:
Hours of work are generally 3:00 pm - 12:00 am on weeknights and 7:00 am - 12:00 am on weekends, between 10 and 30 hours per week. Overtime and extended hours on some special event dates may be required as authorized and approved by the Aquatic & Facility Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Communicates with the Aquatic & Facility Supervisor on issues and activities related to the Recreation Center
· Reviews and maintains the policies and procedures outlined in the Itasca Park District Procedures Manual with respect to the safe and effective operations of the Recreation & Facilities Department and Safety Program
· Establishes good working relationships with patrons, the community and the general public
· Attends work on a regular basis
· Maintains a clean and organized work environment
· Performs any additional job duties, which may be considered essential, as assigned by the Aquatic & Facility Supervisor
· Prepares rooms for scheduled activities, programs, meetings and rentals by setting up, tearing down, and cleaning designated rooms for room rentals and facility events
· Follows the basic cleaning schedule as outlined in the Building Supervisors Daily Responsibilities Checklist
· Cleans the facility as outlined on Daily Facility Schedule, or as needed.
· Assists participants as needed during room rentals
· Secures all exterior doors, and locks and sets alarm when building is cleared at closing time
· Salts and clears snow from main entrance and sidewalks .as needed
· Provides customer service to any people needing assistance in the Recreation Center
· Empties recycle bin into outside dumpster
· Refills drink machines as necessary
· Checks and returns thermostat in dance/aerobics room to 68 degrees each night at end of shift
· Checks and returns rooms to their default room set ups as needed for the following rooms: Iris A, Iris B, Lounge, gym, and Confetti
· Attends scheduled staff meetings, as required
· Travels seasonal to local schools to open and secure the buildings for Park District activities
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develops, promotes and utilizes safe work habits while contributing tin every possible manner to the safety of themselves, coworkers and the general public
· Checks the inboxes of other Building Supervisors when filling in for them in their absence
Physical Considerations and Personal Protective Equipment PPE Requirements:
· Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform ongoing moderate to heavy work
· Incumbent will regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, finger grasp, feel, sit and perform other repetitive motions, as required
· Ability to lift heavy weights of up to 50 pounds frequently without assistance and heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of equipment. The ability to lift, turn and carry 50 pounds safely, placing the load on a chest-high shelf fulfills this lifting requirement
· Vision is required to inspect internal and external facility conditions and to monitor the facility during its usage
· Hearing and speech are required to hear and converse with participants
· Work is performed both indoors and outdoors around people, machinery and equipment with moderate to high noise levels
· May work in controlled temperature conditions, extreme cold and hot temperatures, and inclement weather conditions, such as wind, rain, snow and ice
· Exposure to soil, mud, dirt, dust, cleaning solvents, mechanical and electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes
· Potential exposure to chronic infectious disease while performing routine first aid or emergency procedures
