JOB SUMMARY
Supports the implementation and on-going coordination of ITC’s framework for compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards. Provides independent compliance oversight, guidance, and direction for all NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Operations and Planning (O&P) Standards as assigned. Assists in compiling, reviewing, assessing, and maintaining NERC compliance documents, as well as preparing for audits and engaging in NERC mitigation activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for performing CIP and O&P Reliability Standards compliance documentation reviews to ensure NERC compliance.
- Works collaboratively with standard owners and subject matter experts on compliance, process, and performance improvements.
- Develops and maintains internal controls for assigned standards.
- Performs compliance spot checks to ensure NERC reliability requirements are properly and clearly addressed and audit trails are comprehensive and complete.
- Functions as a team member for pre-audit activities, including conducting internal pre-audit and controls reviews with various stakeholders responsible for specific standard compliance.
- Maintains documentation necessary to meet audit requirements as set forth by NERC and Regional Entities (REs); ensures that such documentation can demonstrate complete and full compliance with existing Reliability Standards.
- Functions as a subject matter expert on the Reliability Assurance team for assigned NERC Standards.
- Facilitates the response to regulatory compliance monitoring events, enforcement actions, compliance filings, data-reporting, and data requests.
- Leads the development of presentations and training materials necessary to support sharing compliance related information across the company.
- Monitors the regulatory activities of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), NERC, and the REs as necessary to maintain awareness of changes in the regulatory environment.
- Support the enhancement and refinement of NERC reliability business processes, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Supports Reliability Assurance team members as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or relevant equivalent experience and/or education.
- Minimum of five (5) years of work experience as an Electrical Engineer or related field, in the utility industry
- Exceptional written communications skills required, especially the ability to convey complex information clearly, concisely, and effectively in writing compliance narrative responses.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and set and meet targets.
- Possesses good written and verbal communication skills.
- Possesses the ability to write clear comprehensive business documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
