Job Title: Patient Access Representative
Location: 5051 Greenspring Ave, Baltimore, MD 21209
Responsibilities:
Billing/Financial:
- Collect co-pays and fees for facility and professional services, ensuring payment batches are balanced and closed daily.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for facility and professional services.
- Assist patients in obtaining specialty referrals and communicate billing details to patients or guarantors.
Registration:
- Conduct patient interviews to gather accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Verify insurance and ensure proper billing and collections by obtaining authorizations.
- Register patients in computerized systems and prepare admission packets for providers.
- Schedule appointments and assist patients with necessary admission forms.
Medical Records:
- Maintain and update accurate medical records, ensuring charts are properly filed and accessible.
- Process medical records for release, following up on requests and ensuring confidentiality.
Charge Entry/Abstract:
- Review patient encounter forms for completeness and accuracy prior to entering charges into the billing system.
- Consult with providers for missing information and verify coding for charges.
Customer Service:
- Provide exemplary customer service by addressing patient and customer concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure patient rights are respected in all interactions.
- Establish strong relationships with patients, co-workers, and other departments to maintain a positive organizational environment.
Requirements:
- Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in medical billing, insurance pre-authorization, or patient access roles.
- Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a specialized field.
- Medical Terminology: Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology obtained through formal training or previous experience.
- Other Skills:
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
- Empathetic and customer-focused approach to service.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.05 - $20.91 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
