What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permit Coordinator position at ITG Communications?
The Permit Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the process for all permitting activities associated with the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) build, collaborating with local municipalities, counties, Department of Transportation (DOT), federal agencies, and railroad authorities to ensure successful and timely project implementation.
Responsibilities
- Prepares permit packages or applications for assigned projects and understands permitting requirements, ensuring all documents are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner. Create plans, traffic controls, profile typicals in ArcMap
- Determine pole owners and use O-Calc for pole applications requiring pole loading analysis (PLA)
- Locate all permits that will be required for the fiber design projects
- Gather all data required for permitting from design software (ArcGIS, Katapult, IQGeo, ect.)
- Utilize field and GIS data to create detailed aerial and underground permits
- Work closely with project managers, designers, and clients
- Integrate Make Ready information into required permits
- Ensure each construction permit is compliant with the appropriate building codes and/or specifications for the appropriate municipality
- Connect and communicate with numerous municipal, building and roadway departments, and project managers to understand any changes in permitting requirements and complete permit application requests
- Self and peer review permits for accuracy of ROW dimensions, heights, road names, ect. before permit submittal
- Deliver completed permit applications to manager for final submittal
- Track and manage permits for multiple fiber projects
- Work with designers to incorporate permit requirements into general design
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in GIS, Geography or related field (preferred), or one to two years of related work experience (required)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, sit – 6-8 hours daily
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Ability to adapt to varying project requirements and timelines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to convey technical information to non technical stakeholders
Basic understanding of fiber build designs and Make Ready/construction process
Strong communication skills
Strong understanding of jurisdictional permitting requirements
Experience creating permit applications for DOT, Railroads, USACE, City, County, and pole owner applications
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe, and Google Earth
Experience using ArcGIS, Arc Pro, IQGeo, O-Calc and Katapult to create maps and put together permits and pole applications
Database management
Permit quality control
Bonus: experience in programming languages (Python, Arcade, C , ect.)
Ability to build collaborative relationships teams
Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced engineering environment
