This role is responsible for conducting field surveys to assess construction feasibility, collecting accurate site data, and helping to ensure successful fiber installations. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of utility infrastructure, fiber construction methods, and permitting requirements
Responsibilities
- Conduct site surveys for proposed fiber construction projects, including aerial and underground routes.
- Document existing utility infrastructure (poles, conduit, handholes, etc.) and identify potential conflicts or obstacles
- Capture precise measurements, photographs, and GIS data to support engineering designs.
- Interpret construction prints, permitting requirements, and right-of-way regulations
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly with engineering, permitting, and construction teams
- Coordinate with local municipalities, utility companies, and property owners as needed
- Ensure safety and compliance standards are upheld during all site visits
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in a related field is a plus
- 2 years of experience in field surveying, utility construction, or fiber deployment
- Familiarity with fiber construction methods (aerial, underground, directional boring)
- Proficient with GPS tools, measuring equipment, and mobile data collection apps
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, maps, and utility prints
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to travel within assigned territories and work in outdoor environments
