Job Overview:
The Controller will oversee key accounting functions for the company’s U.S. operations. This hands-on role is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong background in manufacturing, cost accounting, and financial management. The successful candidate will bring at least 10 years of accounting experience, with a deep understanding of inventory controls, costing, and ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee inventory management processes and implement effective controls.
- Gather data on manufacturing processes and establish cost standards for a new ERP system.
- Ensure payroll records are accurate and reconciled in a timely manner.
- Reconcile direct material purchases to maintain financial accuracy.
- Lead the month-end closing process, including accruals and adjusting journal entries.
- Manage relationships with internal and external auditors, ensuring compliance with financial standards.
- Apply accounting principles to Revenue Recognition, Inventory, CAPEX, AP accruals, and Cost Accounting.
- Lead the physical inventory process and ensure accurate reporting.
- Manage and mentor a team of 5 to 7 accounting professionals, including accountants, senior accountants, and clerks.
- Work with multiple accounting systems and support ERP implementation.
- Drive improvements in inventory, purchasing, and accounting processes.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on manufacturing and cost accounting.
- CPA preferred; CMA also considered.
- Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring accounting teams.
- A self-starter with a proactive mindset who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP system implementations in a manufacturing setting is a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management systems.
- Ability to drive change, foster accountability, and effectively communicate financial concepts to non-financial teams.
