Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee and lead operations across two manufacturing plants and several distribution centers. This role requires a seasoned executive with a proven track record in manufacturing management, supply chain optimization, regulatory compliance, and leadership in complex, regulated environments. As the COO, you will play a key role in developing and executing operational strategies that will drive company growth, improve operational efficiency, and ensure that the organization maintains compliance with all relevant industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all manufacturing operations, including two production plants and several distribution centers, ensuring high efficiency, quality, and safety standards.
- Develop and execute strategies to optimize operational performance, including cost reduction, throughput improvement, and workforce development.
- Oversee regulatory compliance across all manufacturing and distribution activities, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Work closely with senior leadership to establish and implement company-wide initiatives focused on growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
- Provide strategic leadership for the supply chain, logistics, and distribution functions, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, or other process optimization methodologies, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Oversee the P&L for manufacturing and distribution operations, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring financial goals are met.
- Collaborate with other departments, including quality assurance, engineering, HR, and R&D, to align operational strategies with the company’s broader goals.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, customers, and suppliers.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of plant managers, distribution center managers, and other senior operational staff.
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience (10 years) as a senior operations leader (COO, VP of Operations, or equivalent) in a manufacturing environment, ideally within a highly regulated industry
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple manufacturing plants and distribution centers, with a deep understanding of supply chain management, production planning, and logistics.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in manufacturing, including OSHA, FDA, GMP, ISO, and other relevant standards.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive operational improvements.
- A track record of implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to drive efficiency and cost reduction.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing P&L and driving profitability improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with executives, staff, and external stakeholders.
- A strategic thinker who can balance long-term goals with short-term operational demands.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- An MBA or advanced degree is preferred but not required.
