Itron Distributed Energy Management is the industry's leading provider of integrated cloud-based demand response, energy efficiency and customer engagement solutions that enable electricity utilities to ensure grid reliability, lower energy costs, meet regulatory demands and enhance the customer experience. Through its combination of software, hardware and services, Itron DEM helps utilities optimize every aspect of a demand management program, from participant recruitment and device installation to call center support, control events and measurement and verification.
As a key member of the Itron Distributed Energy Management team, the Field Technician position requires a self-starting individual who is results motivated and has the ability to work independently. Primary responsibilities include the support of utility-based programs by performing field installations of wi-fi thermostats as well as load control devices on refrigerated air conditioning units. This position is a direct report to the Operations Manager.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills through
interaction with end customers.
Perform field installation of advanced energy management
and control systems for residential homes, small and medium
businesses, and large commercial facilities.
Installations and commissioning of low and line voltage
equipment and wiring.
Install intelligent thermostats and digital control units.
Clean-up of work area after installations.
Provide programming and operation instruction sessions for
end customers.
Safely drive extended distances in company vehicle between
customer locations within Albuquerque Metro area.
Occasional out of town travel may be required.

Required Skills & Experience:
1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or
equivalent combination of education and experience
including HVAC.
Electrical installation experience (preferred)
Experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and
servicing of networking devices.
Knowledge of Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, cabling standards
and components including installation and troubleshooting
(preferred)
Proficiency with basic computer software to include basic
TCP/IP protocols and using mobile devices (preferred)
Ability to climb ladders, stretch, pull and lift up to 50 lbs. in
an outdoors working environment
Education: High school diploma required or equivalent. Training from a two-year college or technical school or in-field experience preferred.
Certification(s): Must possess a valid driver's license. Journeyman or Master Electrician or HVAC license, preferred.
Travel: Daily travel to local customer sites required within Albuquerque metro area.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel small and medium sized components. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift weight or exert force up to 50 pounds. The employee in this position works in an environment where there is a risk of electrical shock, and there is vibration. The employee will be required to work near moving mechanical parts in outdoor weather conditions.
