Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:

The Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator works to establish communication, relationships, and maintain mutual understanding among school, community and home.  

Essential Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to, the following: 

• Formulate strategic plan to increase parental and community engagement within the school environment
• Develop parent programs and workshops that promote higher achievement and social growth of scholars
• Provide information to parents concerning policy and procedures such as learning compacts, curriculum, uniform, attendance, parent teacher conferences, volunteer opportunities, Title I, etc. as stipulated in the Parent and Scholar Handbook
• Serve as the Homeless Liaison, attend Homeless training and work with identified families to remove barriers to learning.
• Serve as the Foster Care Liaison, coordinate with local agencies to facilitate educational transition and support for foster care scholars
• Facilitate the used uniform sales for families; assist scholars with uniform needs (Not new uniform sales)
• Arrange, schedule, and request parent participation in conferences, meetings, and other activities; encourage parent participation in various school and community programs and services
• Keep parents informed through various communication channels including newsletters, flyers, bulletins, letters, social media posts, and webpage information
• Establish and maintain community partnerships to facilitate and enhance support services for scholars and families
• Host quarterly family spirit nights and Ivy Prep in the Community events
• Connect families to support and resources in the event of a crisis situation
• Review records in the identification and monitoring of attendance, behavior, and academic issues for assigned scholar caseload; prepare reports as required
• Coordinate volunteer program with continuous recruitment and training for volunteers
• Create opportunities to involve all parents in the education of their child
• Develop and maintain the Parent Resource Center
• Calculate and keep accurate data of parental involvement
• Initiate and respond to parent phone calls, emails, and written correspondence related to Family Involvement 

• High School Diploma or GED required 
• Clearance Certificate Only
• Works independently and confidentiality with confidential, privileged, sensitive records, materials, and information.
• Must possess computer skills to utilize various computer software and/or be able to learn required software 
• 2 years of school district and/or community experience preferred
