Director of Distribution Position Overview:
The Director of Distribution will lead and manage a multi-location warehouse operation, facility maintenance, and inventory control. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and an inspirational leader with a proven track record of operational excellence and team development.
Director of Distribution Responsibilities:
- Lead and optimize multi-site warehouse operations, including staffing, inventory control, and order fulfillment.
- Implement and refine best practices for efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
- Oversee inventory control processes such as cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Develop strategic plans to optimize distribution routes and logistics to reduce costs and improve delivery times.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations.
- Monitor KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, cost per stop) and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee maintenance schedules for warehouse equipment and facilities to minimize downtime.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts and analyze trends, to address any capacity constraints proactively.
Director of Distribution Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in operational leadership, preferably managing multi-site distribution or warehouse facilities.
- Strong background in warehouse, logistics, and distribution operations.
- Proficient in record keeping and managing data to make decisions. Competency in Excel functions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage teams, foster collaboration, and lead change.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
- Ability to work onsite in Syracuse NY.
