What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yacht Accountant position at IYC - The International Yacht Company?
This role will be the Owner’s primary point of contact for these functions. The Administrative aspect of our Yacht Management Accounting Department involves providing the vessel and Owner with Accounting and Reporting service.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Budgeting
- Arrange for Annual, Quarterly & Monthly budgets for each vessel based on collaboration with captain & Yacht Managers as requested by the owner.
- Produce Annual, Quarterly & Monthly financial reports to the owner and/or owner’s Rep as requested.
- Provide budget variance analysis in collaboration with the captain & Yacht Manager, as necessary.
Accounts Payable
- Ensure that expenditure approval levels are established and agreed to by the Owner and communicated to Captain & Crew.
- Review and process payable invoices for the vessel in accordance with the established IYC approval protocols.
- Understand and apply each vessel’s financial and taxable requisite corresponding to her flag state, registration and location.
Payroll / Crew Administration
- Process payroll and provide funding to third-party payroll company each month.
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business OR equivalent experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
- Previous industry experience preferred
- Experience with FileMaker is preferred
- Working knowledge & utilization of QuickBooks accounting software is preferable

- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, captains, and yacht management team.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize and multi-task is essential.
- Attention to detail and follow-up is key.
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
