What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Industrial Painter position at J&B Industrial Services?
SUMMARY
Lead personnel and direct workload to achieve work standards and goals. Use various painting techniques that will include but are not limited to powder coat, wet paint spraying, Cerakote, hydro dip and several other techniques on various materials. Material preparation such as abrasive blasting, cleaning, dipping, masking, among other techniques is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, however, other duties may apply)
- Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
- Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers and booth collection systems
- Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
- Determine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers
- Knowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash and pretreatments
- Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance
- Ensure personnel are working safe, and work areas are clean and all company policies, procedures and processes are followed
- Assist manager with quotations, and promotion and marketing of business to commercial and retail customers
- Good knowledge of the mechanics, cleaning and repair of painting equipment
- Provide assistance and training to employees who need technical advice
- Evaluate procedures and recommend change/modifications for efficiency
- Assist and oversee packaging techniques that prevent damage from occurring during transportation
- Provide courteous and professional service to co-workers, customers, vendors and drivers
- Communicate with Manager on any items/issues needing immediate or direct attention. Assist in problem solving, addressing issues and provide feedback Promote a team environment and assist Manager to achieve departmental objectives
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will direct workload and assist all Coating Specialists personnel. No hiring or firing responsibilities, but can issue verbal warnings. Promote a team environment within the business. Communicate directly with Coating Specialists Manager on employee issues and personnel reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques
- High school diploma or GED preferred and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years work experience the powder coating industry and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
