Responsible for identifying and assessing areas of compliance risk; assisting in setting ethical principles; developing and implementing education programs in compliance and safety. Maintain compliance with OSHA and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) legal requirements, while ensuring barrier-free trade, establishing effective internal controls to protect the company, optimizing trade performance, and reducing costs. Responsible for FTZ and safety training and skill assessment to include on-boarding training and orientation, remedial training, and maintaining compliance with regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES (include the following, however, other duties may apply.)
- Develop and coordinate appropriate compliance and safety training for all employees.
- Ensure and understand all laws, regulations, company policies, and ethical requirements applicable to the business.
- Develop, coordinate, and/or oversee internal and external audit procedures for the purpose of monitoring and detecting any misconduct or noncompliance; if any misconduct or noncompliance is detected, notify department manager, discuss recommendations and follow up on corrective actions.
- Keep abreast of current events and regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
- Develop and manage all FTZ and related processes/procedures including operations manuals.
- Act as internal subject matter expert for all issues relating to compliant FTZ operations.
- Oversee daily FTZ operations, including brokers, forwarders and 3PLs.
- Prepare and submit internal and external requirements with regards to compliant FTZ operations including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual documentation and forms to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- Manage required FTZ recordkeeping retention program, ensuring that all FTZ records are maintained and readily available for CBP review in accordance with the applicable recordkeeping regulations.
- Perform routine audits of all FTZ operations, including but not limited to customs filings, physical security, inventory control and recordkeeping system.
- Oversee and manage safety program, safety committee and safety training.
- Conduct and document routine facility safety inspections.
- Responsible for training new hires and current employees in Safety/Compliance.
- Work with HR Manager on respiratory, hearing and fire prevention programs and conduct yearly tests.
- Investigate all workplace injuries and accidents and complete all associated paperwork.
- Effectively evaluate, monitor, analyze and identify all driver compliance and non-compliance issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Monitor and assist in enforcement of DOT and FMCSA regulations to ensure compliance.
