J&B Installations, Inc. is a commercial and industrial roofing contractor specializing in EPDM, PVC, and TPO membranes. We are family owned and operated and have been the leading commercial roofing company in New York State for over 40 years. J&B Installations is located in Skaneateles, NY with jobs located throughout the greater Central New York area.
This position is responsible for fabrication of all sheet metal on various commercial roof systems, working in the shop to fabricate and assemble sheet metal products for the production of our commercial roofing jobs.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as gravel stops, eave drip, coping cap, gutter/downspout, counter flashing, scuppers, expansion joints, and drain pipes.
- Work may involve any of the following:
- Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut and bend sheet metal
- Install metal roofing panels and components
- Adherence to safety procedures is required
- Determine material or tool requirements
- Knowledge of using hand and power tools
- Set up production equipment or machinery
Minimum Qualification Standards:
- Highschool Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience in sheet metal fabrication
- OSHA 10
- Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Fabricator, preferably in the roofing or construction industry.
- Proficiency in using metal fabrication tools and machinery (shears, brakes, presses, welders, etc.).
- Knowledge of roofing systems such as standing seam, metal shingles, and flashing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of metal properties, types, and uses in roofing applications.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift heavy materials.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and ability to maintain a safe work environment.
- Certification (e.g., welding or sheet metal apprenticeship) is a plus.
