Position Overview
J.D. Abrams, L.P. is an employee-owned Texas heavy civil contractor seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist. The Accounting Specialist will work with the CFO and will be responsible for and/or involved in several key areas of the business to include receivables and collections, fixed asset accounting, job cost maintenance and support, general ledger support functions, cash management, and monthly reporting.

General Accounting Functions:
- Responsible for recording monthly Construction Progress Billings and managing receivable collections
- Responsible for weekly billings for our Precast Concrete division, and managing collections
- Fixed Asset accounting functions to include recording equipment purchases and sales, recording monthly depreciation, cost allocations for equipment deployed to construction projects, internal cost reporting for the Equipment Group
- General ledger accounting including routine journal entries, cost allocations, benefit cost allocations, monthly closing entries and internal reporting
- Job Cost support functions to support the Operations Team to include job cost accounting support
- Assist with compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Assist the accounting for credit purchases, and fuel card cost allocation
- Weekly equipment cost allocations
Financial Reporting:
- Assist with accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close. Ensure the timely reporting of weekly and monthly financial information
- Compilation and analysis of cost and financial data

Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge or experience in accounting for construction or heavy highway construction.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in accounting or a related field preferred

- Understanding of construction financial and cost accounting principles
- Good Organization and time management skills
- Familiarity with construction specific enterprise software is a plus
