BASIC PURPOSE: To assist and back up the positions of Vendor and Carrier Payable and Receivable Associates.
JOB SUMMARY: Assist accounting associates with assigned monthly bills, expense reports, and commission statements. Assist carrier payable associate with assigned monthly carrier payments and receivables. Assigned mailroom tasks and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
40% Assist in maintaining the carrier payable desk. Can be relied on for daily deposits, assigned monthly carrier statements, and assigned monthly client statements. Oversees petty cash drawer and reconciles monthly. Processes premium finance agreements and oversees the aged accounts receivables.
40% Assist in maintaining the vendor payable desk. Can be relied on for assigned monthly vendor bills, expense reports and loan statements. Responsible for inputting direct bill commissions into AMS for all carriers that do not utilize download of commissions. Helps in reconciling any items out of balance. Helps to investigate direct bill commission checks to make sure that all items are posted correctly and accurately.
15% Responsible for keeping Account Manager and co-workers apprised of carrier accounting policy and or procedure changes. Responsible for backing up Vendor Payable Associate and Carrier Payable Associate when they are out of the office.
5% Help backup mailroom and reception functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Prefer an Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with accounting as a major or minor of study.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accounting policies and manuals, general business periodicals, financial reports, legal documents, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to understand and apply insurance rating and underwriting criteria to account needs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
